My Card
I make cards as a hobby. I find it therapeutic. In my other life, I studied architecture and work for a local firm. For this reason, when I first saw the 'In This World' stamp set, I was immediately impressed and couldn't wait to use it.
However, I haven't used it until now. In fact, I didn't know what I could use it for. But, since it was World Card-Making Day, I decided this was when I was going to use it.
My favourite image was the one of the door, so I decided that was going to be the one. And then, immediately - I had the idea of how one needs to go through the door to find something exciting. So, I looked for a sentiment that matched. And, then I found one that was perfect. Here is the result;
The Adventure Awaits sentiment is from the Places You'll Go set. What a PERFECT accompaniment to this stamped image. If you go through the door, adventure awaits you.
I started with a scrap piece of Very Vanilla and stamped the door. I used Soft Suede ink with sponge daubers and coloured the entire image. Using a Stanley (X-Acto) knife and a steel ruler, I carefully I then cut out around the outside of the door and cut out the three windows and the three panels in the lower part of the door.
I then stamped an image on an A6 card, close to the middle. I sponged the windows with Delightful Dijon and the lower panels with Soft Suede. I then trimmed this piece of card stock and mounted this on a piece of Soft Suede card stock. I then mounted this on a piece of paper from the Serene Scenery set of Designer Series Paper. This was then mounted on a Soft Suede card.
I then stamped the sentiment on the card. The final step was to trim down some dimensionals and mount the top layer of the door directly over the bottom layer.
