Now, to the card - I was impressed by the challenge presented by the sketch over at Pals Paper Arts this week. The work done by the design team was amazing; and, it inspired me to have a go. This was the sketch for the week;

Great sketch Nicole. So, here is the card i came up with;

There are many things about this card that I like. I actually am amazed that I used these stamps as they are stamps I would usually overlook. But, they are actually from three different sets and they work great together.

Base

I love this background stamp. However, I have used it before in black and it was a little too overpowering. So, using Soft Sky really gave the effect I was after.

Helm

I had to google the name. I would have called it a 'Ship Steering Wheel' - I tried three different size framelets from the 'Circles' set. And, I added two of them to the card. Then, I cut three strips and assembled a full size helm, which I then cut in half.

Compass, Ship

These stamp sets suited the theme perfectly. I stamped in black. But, it didn't pop as I hoped. So, I added some clear emboss powder and it popped!

Celebrate

I tried a number of different sentiments on this card, but none of them worked well. So, when I tried the timber element, I was happy. This usually has a natural timber colour, but something didn't seem right. So, I added some basic black ink to it and it looked better. But, it wasn't quite there. So, I added some clear emboss powder over the black ink and it popped in the way i imagined.
